Pullar Community building was completed in 1939 at a cost of $181,000 and was state-of-the art at the time of completion. Pullar Community Building was one of the few rinks in the world to have summer ice. Pullar has been used for teen dances, graduation ceremonies, big bands, as a roller rink, and is still being used for visiting circuses. Red Wing greats such as Gordie Howe, Ted Lindasy, Sid Abel, and Alex Delvecchio skated at the Pullar as did the Lake Superior State University Lakers and the Soo Indians. Pullar is currently home to the Hiawatha Skating Club, the Sault High Blue Devils, and the Sault Michigan Hockey Association along with other local youth and adult hockey leagues.
